Autoblog celebrates 20 years on YouTube
The Longest-Running Dutch Media Brand on YouTube Celebrates Milestone with Special Anniversary Content
Today, Autoblog.nl marks a major milestone: the platform's YouTube channel turns exactly 20 years old. This makes Autoblog the oldest still-active Dutch media brand on YouTube. Since launching on January 11, 2006, the channel has published over 3,700 videos and amassed a total of 291 million views.
The channel began during the early days of online video and quickly grew into a familiar presence in the Dutch automotive world. And for two decades, one face has remained constant: Editor-in-Chief Wouter Karssen has been the driving force behind the videos from day one.
The most-watched video on the channel is Bugatti Veyron vs BMW M3 from 2007, which has now surpassed 52 million views. On average, every Dutch person has watched at least 17 Autoblog videos. To put the total views in perspective: 291 million views is equivalent to selling out the Ziggo Dome more than 18,000 times.
Over the past twenty years, the channel has featured major international names such as Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, David Coulthard, and the full Top Gear team. But above all, it has been about testing cars and burning rubber. Lots of it.
Anniversary Content
To celebrate this anniversary, Autoblog is releasing a special compilation video today, highlighting twenty years of Autoblog.nl on YouTube. Naturally, it’s available on their YouTube channel. In addition, Editor-in-Chief Wouter Karssen has written a reflective article titled “Lessons from 20 Years on YouTube.”
